Iran Denies Request To Return U.S. Drone (U.S. Spying Efforts Unmasked In Incident)

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said Tuesday the country had no intention of returning the U.S. spy drone Tehran says it brought down in northern Iran December 4th. Despite requests of a return from President Barack Obama.

Instead, Iran is demanding an apology for the alleged violation of its air space.

“Obama is ignoring the fact that a spy drone has violated Iran’s airspace and according to international law, this is a violation,” Boroujerdi said.

Boroujerdi said the United States must “pay compensation for the violating Iran’s airspace” and apologize to the Islamic Republic.

Tehran last week filed a formal complaint with the U.N. Security Council alleging the drone violation of Iranian airspace amounted to a U.S. “invasion.”

The Iranians claim they brought down the RQ-170 Sentinel stealth drone, while American officials maintain the vehicle malfunctioned and crashed.

Obama would not elaborate on why the remote-controlled spy aircraft equipt with reconnaissance equipment did not return to its base in neighboring Afghanistan about 140 miles away. The U.S is calling it a technical malfunction.

Afghan Deputy Defense Minister Homayoun Fawzi said Tuesday at a Tehran meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi that Kabul would never let anyone use Afghanistan as a base from which Iran could be attacked.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is one of our good friends and we will not allow any threat to Iran from Afghanistan’s soil,” Fawzi said.

Press TV reported the Iranian army’s electronic warfare unit landed the spy drone “with minimal damage” December 4th after it was flying over the northeastern Iranian city of Kashmar.

Iran is using the captured drone as propaganda against the United States by viewing on its national TV channel.

The specialized paint that’s used on the drone’s hull is part of what makes it stealthy and is technology that is considered valuable to the United States.
