The Universal Happy “Drug”

I remember when I saw the movie “Avatar” and some of my friends saying “Wow! imagine what that would be like? Being able to do all of that stuff?!” I didn’t say anything to them I just thought “What do you mean? You’ve got that right now, you’ve got a body don’t you?” Read more of this post

The Healing Power of Sound & The Transformational Aspects of Music

HJ: I think it is safe to say that we have all had the experience of being profoundly moved by a piece of music.  It is truly a mystical experience in every sense of the word… but what exactly is responsible for this incredible, palpable emotional effect?  The study of sound as a healing tool has led to some incredible, groundbreaking research into the brain, nervous system and exactly how these forces interact to produce significant changes that can have very real effects on our mind, emotions, body and even spirit.

This contemporary research is able to provide insight into what ancient societies and tribes knew and embraced wholeheartedly.  To my knowledge, every culture on the planet in some way incorporated music — sound with intention and form — into the fabric of its existence.  In fact, cultures such as the Buddhists of Tibet developed many instruments such as singing bowls, chimes, and gongs which have profound, consciousness transforming effects, which can be felt by anyone has ever experienced them either in person or via recording. Researchers Say Music Alters Visual Perception

Music is not only able to affect your mood — listening to particularly happy or sad music can even change the way we perceive the world, according to researchers from the University of Groningen.

Visual perception is not a passive process: in order to efficiently process visual input, the brain actively uses previous knowledge (e.g., memory) and expectations about what the world should look like. Conscious experience does not only reflect “what is out there”, but also our previous knowledge and expectation. Read more of this post

Creating Your Ideal Reality

The main problem that arises for many people in the area of self-development is that they feel at effect to their current condition rather than working courageously to AFFECT their current reality.

Many of us feel effected by outside external circumstances instead of deciding to AFFECT them. When you choose to affect your current state of reality, you can reap the rewards effectively.

The universe will deliver whatever you want, you just have to set out your intentions and work towards creating them. You set your intention, and the universe will respond to your thoughts by guiding you along the way as you consciously create.

Subconsciously, without you knowing the exact way, the universe will do its work if you allow it to.

Create Your Own Reality.

Nothing is going to fall in your lap.

If your intention is to earn $1,000,000 dollars, it is not going to fall from the sky.

If you stick to your intention everyday and work at it as hard as you can, the universe will open up channels of opportunities to make your thoughts a physical reality. If for one second you don’t trust in the universe, it will respond to that distrust, and close up the channels.

You will face setbacks along the way, but treat those as learning experiences rather than failures. If you get upset over failing, the universe will tune into that frequency you are vibrating in, and attract more and more failure and discontent.

You have to know that it will not be easy to change your current state of reality.

If it was easy, you would already have what you want.

But most of us don’t, right?

It wouldn’t require any effort on your part, and everyone would have what they want.

It doesn’t work that way, but if you understand the Law of Attraction, you can use it to your advantage on your creative journey of life.

You are the master creator of your reality.

You are the manifester.

You are the alchemist of your own life.

Everything you create has stemmed from yourself.

Everyone else is simply an avatar in your reality, they don’t have to exist in it if you don’t want them to.

You can turn away from people who negatively effect you, and turn towards the positive people who can help you and embrace the entire experience with you.

You have the conscious choice.

There is no one telling you a certain way to act unless you are WEAK and give into the desires of others for their advantage.

Be STRONG and overcome the influence of others if it is guiding you in a wrong direction. You subconsciously know what is right and what is wrong, but too many times you might fall into the trap of doing the wrong thing.

The “right” thing is spreading positive energy and positive ideas to every single person or “avatar” you meet in your reality.

If you try to impose positive energy into other people’s lives, they will respond equally with positive energy.

If they are stuck in a rut of negativity and don’t respond well to positive energy, you can just let them suffer by themselves and consciously find other people to help you on your trip.

If you treat everyone you meet as you would like to be treated yourself, you will be amazed at the results.

Most people will return the energy you project on to them and help you as you help them.

It works hand in hand.

Two minds are better than one and two people working towards achieving a goal is a lot easier than one.

If you have big dreams and goals, don’t feel alone.

A lot of us have deep desires that we wish we could achieve, but we limit ourselves in our beliefs. There are many people out in this world who would love to help you and join team as you both work towards building a great future.

Don’t feel isolated because you don’t think anyone else will help.

If you can inspire people to think the same way you do, they will join your team and the goals will be easier to achieve.

If I thought no one would appreciate this website and what we have done, I would not have even bothered to create it.

It has become what it has become due to a TEAM effort of conscious individuals looking to grow and prosper and share those ideals with everyone who is interested in growing themselves.

If I for one second was fearful of what people thought of us, I wouldn’t have even bothered to create this.

I would have let the fear take over and I would be too scared to even try it.

Good thing that didn’t happen.

If I can leave you with one thought, it would be to stop thinking about what you want and START ACTING ON IT.

Stop dwelling on what you DON’T want and start moving towards what you DO WANT.

TAKE ACTION!

Stop being lazy, and stop expecting things to happen overnight.

They won’t.

Take baby steps and set baby goals at the beginning of your journey.

It will be easy to achieve these goals, and you will build confidence in yourself once you achieve some little steps.

After that, you will trust in yourself that you can achieve ANYTHING you set your mind to.

This is where its gets to be A LOT OF FUN.

Share the experience with everyone you think deserves it, and you will attract some more positive opportunities and people along the way.

We did, and we continue to each day.

So what are you waiting for?

GET MOVING! :)

Binaural Beats And Their Benefits

Did you ever think there would be a non-drug and non-herbal orientated way to give yourself a more positive outlook, make you more energetic, more relaxed, or even control pain?

Well folks the good news is there is!

Its a sound technology called binaural beats and they are amazing.

Differentiating Frequency Tones Are How Binaurals Work.

Binaural beats are auditory brain stem responses that begin in the olivary nucleus of each half of the brain’s hemisphere. They result from the interaction of two different auditory impulses, originating in opposite ears, below 1000 Hz and which differ in frequency between 1 Hz and 30 Hz.For example, if a pure tone of 510 Hz is heard through the right ear and a pure tone of 500 Hz is heard through the left ear at the same time, an amplitude modulated standing wave of 10 Hz, the difference between the two tones, is experienced as the two wave forms mesh in and out of phase inside the olivary nuclei.

You Can’t Hear Binaural Beats But You Can Feel Them:

A binaural beat is not physically able to be heard because the human range of hearing is from 20-20,000 Hz. The sound is perceived as an auditory beat and theoretically can be used to stimulate certain neural rhythms through the frequency-following response (FFR)–the tendency for cortical potentials to stimulate or resonate at the frequency of an external stimulus. Thus, it is theoretically possible to utilize a specific binaural-beat frequency as a consciousness management technique to entrain a specific cortical rhythm.

Electroencephalography (EEG): This is the process of attaching scalp electrodes to and measuring the fluctuations from ionic current flows from the brain. This has been an effective tool in proving the effectiveness in the different type of binaural beats.

Different frequency’s of different binaural beats have various effects on the brain and can cause drastically different effects such as anywhere from an adrenaline rush, drifting you off to sleep, or even out of body experiences.

The chart below breaks down the wave name and frequency ranges as well as what they are associated with in the human mind:

Frequency range Name Usually associated with:
> 40 Hz Gamma waves Higher mental activity, including perception, problem solving, fear, and consciousness
13–39 Hz Beta waves Active, busy or anxious thinking and active concentration, arousal, cognition, and or paranoia
7–13 Hz Alpha waves Relaxation (while awake), pre-sleep and pre-wake drowsiness, REM sleepDreams
4–7 Hz Theta waves deep meditation/relaxation, NREM sleep
< 4 Hz Delta waves Deep dreamless sleep, loss of body awareness

From my personal experiences with these waves, alpha binaural beats have really helped me anxiety problems whilst using theta binaural beats has kept me focused, cool, and calm while in stressful work situations. The best part is that they will still work even if you play them in the background of actual music as a soft ambient noise (except for during deep states of meditation, so primarily for theta and beta).

Addition of Isochronic Tones:

If you want to get even more out of the binaural beats even i’d recommend trying to add in isochronic tones for a deeper and even more relaxing experience. Isochronic tones are essentially a repeating white noise similar to the repetition of a fan hitting air repeatedly or the soft static of no TV signal.

There are several variations on these frequencies out there so go try some for yourself and endulge in the glory of binaural beats.

My personal favorite binaural beat with isochronic tones to wake up to in the morning (make sure you play some techno or good house music in front of it). Enjoy :)

A Message to The Government and The Powerful Elite

Please come assassinate me.

I am spreading truth and positivity too fast, I need to be stopped.

You have done it in the past, so why not do it again right?

You killed Kennedy because he foiled your plans to fake terrorist attacks on Americans by vetoing the bill your Joint Chiefs of Staff approved.

Never heard of Operation Northwoods? Read this article.

How about just hiring a hooker to lure me back to a house where you can do experiments with psychedelics on me.

Never heard of Operation Midnight Climax? Read this article.

God Bless America? God Bless Truth, not Propaganda.

It is pathetic how you get away with so many things that people have no idea about.

Even if they knew about it, they probably wouldn’t believe it anyway because you cover it up so well.

Thanks to the internet, I have learned all of your secrets and plan on infecting everyone with this knowledge.

It is even more pathetic that you have been doing this throughout history, and have made people believe that your actions are for the benefit of society as a whole.

You have constantly brainwashed your own citizens to believe a certain way.

You control the media, and most people will believe anything they see on television and read in the newspapers.

You create depression and make people depressed, then conveniently sell the cure for it in the form of anti-depressants. 115,000,000 suckers each year. No wonder pot needs to be illegal. You would be out of business if it wasn’t.

It’s too easy right?

I know it is.

I wish I had your power so I could do the complete opposite.

So like I said, please take me and my crew down, we are going to go right ahead and change the world if you don’t.

I am willing to die spreading truth. It is the only thing that matters in this crazy world. :)

Top 10 Ways to Alleviate Depression

Jim Carey suffers from depression

Jim Carrey, Owen Wilson, Ellen Degeneres, Russell Brand;  are all comedians that suffer from depression.

Depression is a commonly diagnosed mental illness that can range from mild to severe low mood  leading to suicidal ideation and attempts.

You would think these happy-go-lucky, funny, rich famous people have no reason to be depressed, but depression is not picky and can sneak its way through anyone no matter the shape, size, sex, financial status, social status and occupation of the person.

Yes, there are environmental variables that can exacerbate depressed mood, triggers that cause onset of depression, poor diets, work pressures, financial stress, relational conflicts, health concerns, loss of a loved one and chronic stress, all in which contribute to depression.

People carry depression genes

IT’S IN THE BRAIN.

More than likely, someone who experiences depression is predisposed to it, meaning they carry a “depression” gene. An individual’s biological make up is believed to be the etiology of the disease. You will usually see patterns of depression in families because depression is hereditary just like diabetes, cancer, obesity, height and eye color is. That does not mean if depression runs in your family you will definitely have it. It just means that you may be more sensitive to it and would benefit from learning prevention techniques or coping skills to avoid or manage it just as someone who may watch their sugar intake if both of their parents had diabetes.

Depression can get in the way of our jobs, productivity, family relationships, friendships, motivation, creativity, self-care, concentration, sex life, sleep and overall wellness. Although depression is an intrusive, destructive and uncomfortable experience, there is hope to alleviating depression, but first we have to be aware of it.

Warning signs of depression

Warning Signs-If you experience at least five out of eight of these symptoms for two weeks or more you may be suffering from Major Depression, but definitely see a mental health professional first to talk in more detail.

1. Subjective feelings of sadness and emptiness (tearful) for most of the day nearly every day

2. Diminished interest and/or pleasure in all daily activities

3.Weight loss or weight gain, loss or increase of appetite

4. Insomnia or hypersomnia nearly each day

5. Psychomotor agitation or retardation nearly every day

6.Fatigue and/or loss of energy nearly every day

7.Feelings of hopelessness or excessive guilt nearly every day

8.Diminished ability to focus, concentrate, make decisions and think clearly nearly every day

9.Recurrent thoughts of death, disease, suicidal ideation without a plan or suicidal ideation with a plan and suicide attempts.

Top ten ways to alleviate depression.

1.) DON’T ISOLATE!

Depression eats away our desire to socialize and be near people. Since depression is related to feelings of worthlessness and loneliness, isolating will only reinforce and justify your idea that you are not worth being around people and keep you sitting alone in your own head.

Socializing keeps you distracted and connected with others. Emotional support is key to feeling better, even if it’s just a hug from your friend. As hard as it is for a depressed individual to get up and get moving, sometimes you must force yourself up and do something you don’t want to do because if you are depressed you more than likely don’t want to do anything. Depression makes everything a lot more complex and difficult than what it is, so whatever social plans you make, keep it simple so you don’t overwhelm yourself. Make plans to go for lunch or a drive, not a ski trip just yet. It gets easier with practice!

2.) DON’T “MUSTURBATE!”

According to the well-known American psychologist Albert Ellis, founder of Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), individuals who “Musturbate” tend to become more depressed than those who don’t musturbate.

What is musturbating?

Ellis describes musturbation as the tendency for humans to place  rules and demands on themselves and hold thinking patterns with internal dialogue such as “I MUST do this or I MUST do that. Ellis came up with a list of words that human beings tend to use that cause intense feelings of anxiety, guilt, anger and depression.

Musturbatory Words:

Must

Should

Shouldn’t

Have to

Need to

These are just a few of the commonly used phrases that Ellis believed to be a cause of emotional distress, depression and other mental health issues. For example, some people may hold the belief that their friend or significant other SHOULDN’T break plans with them or a mom/wife may hold the belief that she MUST have dinner ready before 6:00. Thinking and talking using these phrases will only make things worse. Try replacing those “Musturbatory’ thinking patterns with more realistic and easy-going words. Lets try it.

Mom’s Musturbatory thoughts - “I MUST have dinner ready before 6:00 or else my family won’t eat on time and I’ll disappoint them, therefore I’m a bad mom.”

Mom’s healthier thoughts - “I’d like to try to have dinner ready by 6:00, if not I’m sure 7:00 will be fine; my family isn’t starving and can tolerate feeling hungry for an extra hour, it doesn’t mean I’m a bad mom or wife, I just had a busy day.”

Doesn’t the 2nd one sound so much more easing?!

So anytime you find yourself using words like these, try replacing them because you really don’t HAVE to do many things you think you do. Ellis thinks we really “SHOULD” implement this to start feeling better.

3.) Structure

Make a daily schedule for yourself to avoid having to make too many decisions as to what to do for the day. Because depression can cause indecisiveness, have plans already decided on to avoid any added stress or feelings of guilt on the decision you made. You may want someone to help you with this as it may be hard to find the motivation to plan activities. Buy a planner and use it.

4.) Stand clear of boredom

Keep your mind busy and active. When we have too much time on our hands we think too much. We start thinking about how horrible we feel and feel sorry for ourselves.

Simple activities like organizing your desk, color coordinating your clothes, cooking a new recipe, shopping, decorating a room in your house, watching a movie ,playing a video game or reading a book are activities that can take up your time and distract you from yourself. Just try to stay out of your head because that will only feed the depression.

5.) REFRAIN FROM BLACK AND WHITE THINKING

Try to see the gray areas in situations instead of labeling things as either BLACK or WHITE, good or bad and all or nothing.

If we develop a pattern of perceiving life events and ourselves as so ABSOLUTE, we leave no room for all of the shades of gray in between.

For example, if your best friend forgot to call you back one day when you really needed them we can choose to anger ourselves more and cause more distress by labeling them as a bad friend and terminating the friendship, which most likely will lead to feelings of anger, guilt and depression.

Instead, we can see the gray area which would be, “It sucks they didn’t call me back,I’m pissed off right now, but they are my best friend for a reason and they probably didn’t mean it to hurt me”. You can even apply this to your own emotions. Some people who overcome depression get really upset when they have a day when they’re not happy therefore they believe they are supposed to be depressed and sometimes it can lead into a vicious cycle. It’s ok to be in the middle, average, or just “ok”.

6.)Act as if you are not depressed

When you’re depressed try to act as if you’re not.

Don’t shlep around in sweat pants and an unwashed face. Try to put on nice clothes, take a shower and force a smile. Train your brain to believe you’re not depressed. You will be surprised how helpful this could be and research indicates that we have the power to change our neural pathways in our brains just by practicing alternative styles of thinking and behaving. See this one as a brain exercise.

7.) Eat right

Eating healthy balanced meals also plays a role in helping to treat depression. There is a correlation between depressed individuals and deficiencies in Folic Acid, vitamins b12 and b6 and omega 3 fats; most commonly correlated with a Folic Acid deficiency. You can find Folic Acid in beans, leafy green vegetables and seeds.

8.) Exercise

There are two reasons why exercise helps alleviate depression.

One is the release of endorphins commonly known as “runner’s high”. These endorphins that are released during exercise attach to the same receptors as opiates do concluding that elevated mood and sense of elation occurs during and after exercise.

Secondly, exercise improves our self-esteem, the way we look and gives us a sense of accomplishment. You don’t have to join a gym to exercise!

9) Sleep right

Not getting enough sleep or getting too much sleep affects the chemical activity in our brain leading to more disturbed mood, fatigue and irritability. Try getting at least 6 hours per night and no more than 9 hours per night. If you have difficulty falling asleep or experience sleep disturbance avoid alcohol and caffeine as much as you can, clear the clutter in your bedroom and do not bring any stressful triggers in your bedroom like bills, storage, conflict. Keep your room strictly for relaxation.

Laughter is healthy

10.)LAUGHTER

All of the comedians listed above have the right idea.

Laughter is like medicine for both the mind and the body.

Laughing is associated with happiness and friendships. Laughter brings people closer and creates intimacy across many cultures. It also helps us to physically relieve stress and relaxes our muscles for as long as 45 min after our laughing episode.

Laughing releases endorphins, leaving us feeling peppy and light. When you can laugh at yourself, your catastrophic and disastrous perception of your life can change and you may start  not taking yourself so seriously.

Keep in mind depression is a serious illness and these tips for alleviating depression are easier said than done for some people.

You may want to seek professional help such as a psychiatrist who can prescribe you anti-depressant medication at first to help get you moving. Then, you can see a psychologist, mental health counselor or any trained mental health professional to guide you through the suggestions listed above.

Top 5 Essential Party Items

Everyone loves a good party.

If you don’t like to party, you are simply taking life too seriously.

Here is a video of how we throw down in Oneonta, NY:
http://www.facebook.com/v/10150172111771538

If you are trying to throw one that people will actually enjoy, you will need the following 5 items.

1. Music and a DJ

Make Sure Your DJ Knows What He is Doing.

Having good music isn’t good enough.

You need someone controlling the music and transitioning songs to keep the party flowing at all times.

An experienced DJ is necessary because they will know which songs to play at certain times according to the mood of the party. Your DJ must have a variety of music from all genres to really separate your party from the rest.

You must cater to all guests and take requests for songs to keep them happy.

2. Blacklights

Grab a Few For Full Effect

Blacklights create a very cool effect for the atmosphere of your party.

Having highlighters to go along with the lights is a plus. The highlighters glow very well under the lights and you can even tell your guests to wear white shirts to draw on and maximize the effect.

3. Lasers

Intense Lighting

There are a variety of different laser products on the market.

The best are ones that shoot lights in tune with the music and the beat. The best ones also have a wireless controller to adjust the settings of the lasers.

Lasers can be very powerful and spread throughout the party and mix EXTREMELY well with my next item, fog.

4. Fog

Fog The Place Out!

Fog is always fun and it is even more fun in blacklights and lasers because it will show the streaks of the lights in the fog as they spread throughout the crowd.

Be sure not to blast too much as it can be annoying and it will overwhelm your guests.

5. Glow Sticks

Hand out a bunch of glow sticks at the door and let people go nuts.

A Cheap Prop To Hand Out To Everyone!

Glow sticks are great tools to get people in the mood to party and dance. They come in many different froms such as wristbands and necklaces and can also be used just as they are.

Notes:

Make sure you buy reliable products. The links I have provided on each item are what I feel is the best product for quality and price.

Shop around and figure out what you want to budget your money on.

Make sure also to provide drinks at your party so you can charge people at the door and make some profit if that is your intention.

There is nothing better than getting paid to party!

Have fun!
