For quite some time the “God Particle” has been thought of as just a myth or nonexistent particle in modern physics, for example being depicted in fiction books such as Angels & Demons. However, today the proof of this particle existing is within reach of scientists and physicists. This has the potential to change many fundamental laws of modern physics as we know it today.
What is the “God Particle”?
-The “God Particle” also known as the Higgs boson, is the particle that is believed to be the building block of the universe and is theoretically what gives everything mass. It is a massive particle that is said to exist by the Standard Model of particle physics. The means of discovering the “God Particle are done through use of a massive particle accelerator (17 miles long and 300 feet below the earths surface to put size in perspective) called the ”Large Hadron Collider”, particles are sent through super cooled magnets and crashed into each at the speed of light. From each of these collision a theoretical mini-Big Bang occurs and disperses into thousands of other particles. The “God Particle” is formed at the point of particle collisions and immediately decays into many other particles (as states the mini-Big Bang) which makes it impossible for scientists to see. Although, they have found evidence of existence through two different detection devices at the Large Hadron Collider called the ”A Toroidal LHC Apparatus” and the “Compact Muon Solenoid”.

What does this mean?
-This means that fundamental laws of modern physics, such as Einstein’s theories of nothing is faster than the speed of light and E=MC^2 have potential to be thrown out the window. This would also prove that time travel is theoretically possible, I don’t know about you but this completely blows my mind…technology, the human mind, and life are crazy and getting crazier everyday. The potential outcomes of this finding are endless.

The danger of this discovery and the Large Hadron Collider?
-Of course with every good thing comes the possibility bad things, its just the balance of how everything in life and the world works. The main danger of this is potentially creating a black hole that would quickly crush the earth in the blink of an eye (as a black hole is space filled with extremely compact mass and allows nothing, not even light, to escape). Scary stuff, I know..we just hope modern physicists are smart enough to not cause Armageddon.

When Will We Know?
-There is no definite answer where or not the “God Particle” does exist, but they believe within one year of working out the kinks they should be able to have a justified theory proofing how mass is created through the “God Particle”.
