Buccaneers HC Raheem Morris On The Hot Seat

ESPN’s John Clayton reported that Morris was to be fired last week, according to a tweet from the St. Petersburg Times.
The reason why Morris wasn’t fired? Tampa Bay’s coaching wasn’t “big enough” to function without Morris and lacked a suitable interim candidate.
He will have to win at least one game to have a chance to retain his job, according to league sources, who also said that coaching staff changes will be coming soon, particularly on the offensive side.
Raheem Morris is both the head coach and defensive coordinator for the Bucs. He was hired in January, 2009 by the Buccaneers after previous head coach Jon Gruden was fired after seven seasons there. Morris was an “internal-hire”, serving as the Bucs defensive backs coach from 07-08.
In Morris’ 3 seasons as head coach the Buccaneers have finished 3-13 (4th in NFC South), 10-6 (3rd in NFC South), and are currently 4-9. Not once qualifying for the playoffs.
If Morris is fired he will join 3 other ex-head coaches who were canned within the past few weeks:
1) Tony Sparano, Miami Dolphins (2008-11)
2) Todd Haley, Kansas City Chiefs (2009-11)
3) Jack Del Rio, Jacksonville Jaguars (2003-11)
