It’s like an old mantra; “Music aids in brain development in children…” We are constantly bombard with this statement as if we were a being vocally blasted by a victorian school teacher. At this point we turn the other way and say, “I know I know.” But do we know? Read more of this post

HJ: Every atom in the universe and cell in your body is vibrating constantly and this can be directed and enhanced through the power of sound frequencies in the form of words and music, among other things.
The science of modulating brainwave frequencies with music and sound is well-known and has been studied and developed for some time. However, researchers are only beginning to understand how words and other forms of vibration affect consciousness and either heal or harm us, depending on intention and usage. Yet this is an area of knowledge that mystics have known about and studied for millenia. The ancient Rishis, Seers, and Yogis of India have developed intricate, complex mantras that play upon the effectiveness of sound for enhancing consciousness and inducing healing of the mind, body and spirit.
Many people do not know that the roof of the mouth has no less than 84 different meridian points which are activated when we speak or chant. The form of the tongue when it hits the roof of the mouth determines which combination of meridians are stimulated and therefore certain words and sounds have more profound effects than others. These meridians are connected directly to the body’s nervous system and are partly responsible for the healing effect of mantras and sacred sounds.
Anyone who enjoys music can attest to the power of sound in their lives, but few understand why it is so. The wonderful article below by Judith Acosta explores sound and vibration and how these forces affect our consciousness and can induce healing. Read more of this post

The Dharma Of Sound Healing
By Diane Mandle | Sound Energy Healing
Music has always been recognized as having a powerful effect on human consciousness. But in the past few years, there has been more research into the science of sound, and how it can be used to improve our lives. We are learning why different kinds of music and sounds have the effects that they do on the body, emotions, mind, and spirit. Science tells us that all life is energy in one form or another. Further, this energy is eternal, changing and morphing from one shape or form to another. Each ‘energy shape’ has its own particular pattern of frequencies, or vibrations. When one form experiences a matching frequency in the form of a musical note, the form will begin to vibrate in sympathy with the note in sympathetic resonance. A strong enough vibration can even cause a form to restructure itself, as has been noted with cancer cells, crystal glasses, water crystals etc. Read more of this post

We were all children at one time. In fact, children are only children for a short time. This leaves the influence on children in a very valuable position as the develop into teens, young adults and contributing members of society. The intriguing situation is this; as young adults turn into adults they tend to forget that they once were children of young.
They concentrate on doing “adult things”, this means that children are left to be influenced by their teachers, social standings and parents. They are not influenced from the prospective of a child, but rather from the prospective of the adults that they are around. Furthermore, there is no arguing that children are most influenced by the authority figures in their life. Children are the future. Read more of this post

I am 23 years old and have grown up appreciating all of the music, pop culture icons, toys, technology, and the like. The past few years have been strange, I would say it started around the time I started college but I don’t think that has any correlation with the way I have been feeling over the past few years. I have just grown completely dissatisfied with my generation and the things going on around me. Read more of this post

If you’re a true Eminem fan, saying something negative about the White God is like saying something bad about The Godfather, Goodfellas, The Wire or Breaking Bad. It’s pretty much expected that someone nearby will be ready to punch you in the face and feel justified for doing so. Read more of this post

Thanks to Forbes Magazine, we have a list of the top 5 richest DJ’s in the world. The money they make per show is ridiculous, but the money they make for clubs, bars, arenas etc. is even more ridiculous.
Why did I go to college? I should have just bought myself a robot suit and played some really..really loud music. If only it was that easy..

The effect that you are seeing can’t be seen with the naked eye. The effect only works through the camera. However, there is a version of the project you can do where the effect would be visible with the naked eye. For that project, you’d have to use a strobe light. Read more of this post

HJ: I think it is safe to say that we have all had the experience of being profoundly moved by a piece of music. It is truly a mystical experience in every sense of the word… but what exactly is responsible for this incredible, palpable emotional effect? The study of sound as a healing tool has led to some incredible, groundbreaking research into the brain, nervous system and exactly how these forces interact to produce significant changes that can have very real effects on our mind, emotions, body and even spirit.
This contemporary research is able to provide insight into what ancient societies and tribes knew and embraced wholeheartedly. To my knowledge, every culture on the planet in some way incorporated music — sound with intention and form — into the fabric of its existence. In fact, cultures such as the Buddhists of Tibet developed many instruments such as singing bowls, chimes, and gongs which have profound, consciousness transforming effects, which can be felt by anyone has ever experienced them either in person or via recording. Music is not only able to affect your mood — listening to particularly happy or sad music can even change the way we perceive the world, according to researchers from the University of Groningen.
Visual perception is not a passive process: in order to efficiently process visual input, the brain actively uses previous knowledge (e.g., memory) and expectations about what the world should look like. Conscious experience does not only reflect “what is out there”, but also our previous knowledge and expectation. Read more of this post

This is just one of my random rants that I had to let out. While surfing the internet aimlessly, I came upon some videos regarding Yoko Ono – and yes, she’s a moron.
Some will say she is the true reason that The Beatles broke up, and I wouldn’t doubt it. Yes, there are some other reasons like George Harrison’s emergence as a songwriter and their managers death, but I would have left the band too if I had to deal with that idiot every day. I hate to say anything negative about John Lennon, but this guy was Yoko Ono’s bitch. He literally brought her everywhere – even the recording studio. This violated a previous agreement between the members not to let wives or girlfriends into the studio. However, Lennon made it clear that she would be allotted artistic input into the band’s recordings. Ono would comment or make suggestions in the recording studio, which only pissed off the rest of the band!

This is a slideshow video that shows how much New York City has changed over its long and storied history. The main lesson to be learned from this video is that the city is always changing, and times can get tough, but New York and New Yorkers will always come back newer and better then ever!
