Twitter Bomb!!! #GaryJohnsonMustDebate 9/16/12 2:00PM EST

Been a while since I’ve dropped any knowledge on you, and for that I apologize. (Most of my posts seem to start with apologies.) One thing I will NOT apologize for, however, is my unabashed support for Gary Johnson, Libertarian candidate for President.

America has been the victim of the illusion of choice for generations. Democrat or Republican, it makes no difference. They are both in bed with the same people: the banksters and the corporations. Why can Gary Johnson not get a mention on the evening news despite being a VERY successful governor of the heavily Democratic state of New Mexico? Because what you see and hear is controlled by the government. 95 percent of what you see and hear is controlled by 6 corporations. Their interests are the government’s interests, and vice versa. If Governor Johnson has no chance to win, then why not let him debate?

I wont sit here and bore you to death. Read his campaign page.

He is the only logical choice. Read more of this post

Happy Fourth of July From PhdinWeed

Note I didn’t say “Independence Day.” That is because the citizens of the United States of America are among the LEAST independent people in the Western Hemisphere. We are enslaved by the multinational corporations, the military/industrial complex, and a government that is staffed by former employees of the very firms that they are supposed to regulateRead more of this post

Fantasy Baseball with PhdinWeed: Week 7 recap, Week 8 Preview

Another week, another victory for Fister? Barely Knew Her. This week was expected to be much tougher than it ended up, thanks mostly to my opponent’s starting pitching not doing much. Final score was Fister 341, Cardinals 272. Read more of this post

Fantasy Baseball with PhDinWeed: Week 6 Recap, Week 7 Preview

It seems like I am forever apologizing in these columns, and must do so again. As I am the father of 2 autistic kids and also hold down 2 jobs, this column kind of fell by the wayside this week. The format is a little different, as I did not document things day by day.

The opponent: Reginald Denny’s Traveling All Stars. I was intially quite nervous heading into this matchup, as my opponent had more starts from his pitching staff than I did. However, good fortune smiled upon me (again) when Javy Guerra was demoted from the closer role for the Dodgers after lineups locked. Good fortune continued to smile upon me when Troy Tulowitzki missed a few games with a nagging injury, and late in the week, Mark Reynolds went on the DL. In addition, his two starts from Joe Saunders actually COST him 3 points. Read more of this post

Fresh off a blowout victory, Fister? Barely Knew Her is up against some stiff competition this week: the infamous Bob L. It would be really nice to get another victory this week, but I don’t think it will come easy. When you look at the lineups, you will see why. Read more of this post

Golfing and/or Drinking for Developmental Disabilities!

If you are a loyal reader of zazenlife.com, then you are probably aware that I am the father of 2 boys on the autistic spectrum. I won’t subject you to a long, drawn out story about how difficult and expensive it is to provide and care for 2 special needs children. The purpose of this post is to make everyone aware of an event happening this Friday, May 4th.

2 of them, actually!

Fantasy Baseball with PhDinWeed: Week 4 Recap, Week 5 Preview

Ah, a new week beckons. Not a moment too soon, either, as my team put on a horrendous showing last week, scoring the fewest points of any team in the league. Hopefully this week will bring different results.

Lineups unavailable due to stupid work firewall

DAY 1

Boo-Ya! The lineup is alive! Home runs by Hosmer, Sandoval, Braun, and Upton fuel my first day charge, along with Chris Capuano’s 7 innings of 1-run ball. My opponent had Jair Jurrjens get him a negative 4 points. At the end of the first day, I am leading 70-9.

CISPA Passes House! Stop it in Senate!

In a move that should surprise virtually no one, our lying, cheating, scheming den of whores and thieves (aka the US House of Representatives) passed CISPA on 4/26/2012 by a vote of 248-168.

CISPA

We already fought one revolution over this type of nonsense!

Fantasy Baseball With PhDinWeed: Week 3 Recap, Week 4 Preview

As stated in the closing of my last column, this week is likely to be a challenge for me as my opponent Blowing Farts (we are all obviously very mature) is poised to out-start me 11-7, including 2 from Roy Halladay. I also wish to reconcile my last article which stated I would be updating daily. I meant that I would be updating my WEEKLY post on a DAILY basis, not posting daily.

4/20, 4:20, 420: Celebrate, but Remember

I am not telling ANYONE not to enjoy themselves this 4/20. By any rational means, you should BE ABLE TO enjoy the beneficial effects of one of the most incredible plants on earth: cannabis.

Whether sativa or indica, whether grown outdoors or inside, whether raised in soil or hydroponically, cannabis is a wonderful plant, one with multiple healing properties that medical science is only beginning to scratch the surface of.

I feel the need to apologize again for my last article. It was hastily written and very sloppy. I have decided to employ a new approach to this column, which I will update daily. This will keep things fresh in my head and be a better experience for you, the reader (of which there are at least 7.) There is a new team name for my squad: Fister? Barely Knew Her.

The lineups for this period look like this:

9/11 Conspiracy: An Overview

Truther. Lunatic. Paranoid. Anti-American.

These are the more benign types of comments one can expect whenever voicing even the POSSIBILITY that we don’t have all the facts regarding the events of September 11th, 2001. I know it is a hot button emotional issue. Discussing it has lost me real life friends, Facebook friends, family members, and Twitter followers. The government-sanctioned story just doesn’t add up. Seek the truth. Don’t be bullied about your beliefs. Most people are so blindly willing to believe the most reassuring story that they can cling defiantly to their position even when confronted with evidence. Zazenlife.com has posted on this subject before. All I ask is that you keep an open mind and do the research. The facts are out there.

Fantasy Baseball With PhDinWeed: Week 1 Recap, Week 2 Forecast

What an eventful first week in fantasy baseball! Not a great week for closers, as blown saves were the order of the week. Mariano Rivera, Sergio Santos, Jose Valverde and Heath Bell were among the big names to blow saves in the opening week.

Ok, let’s get to my week 1 recap. You may recall in my last article I stated that the short week and uncertainty in pitching rotations made it tough to set a lineup in weekly leagues. Due to this uncertainty, I picked up Jeff Samardzija off of waivers and dropped Ryan Raburn. It was a move I didn’t want to make, but it actually turned out well, as you will see below.

Fantasy Baseball With PhDinWeed: Draft Recap & Week 1 Analysis

I know I told you all I would have this post up on Friday, but hey, what do you expect from a guy named PhDinWeed? You have my word that every Monday morning throughout the baseball season there will be a fresh article waiting for you, the faithful reader.

So the draft in my “big money” league ($335 per team, includes food and booze!) was held in Downtown Manhattan on March 29th. My co-owner and I were set to pick 6th out of 12.

Brimming with the confidence that only back to back championships can bestow, we agreed to trade our 6th pick to the team picking 12th for the first 6 rounds of the draft AND let the other team retain their #1 waiver priority. Little did we know what a genius move this would turn out to be. Read more of this post
