Evil Dead Trailer: A Remake of a Cult Classic

For us horror fans, it is scary to hear about remakes of original/classic horror movies. A Nightmare on Elm Street was one of my favorite horror movies, but the remake was brutal. It starts with the director. No one can direct a Freddy Krueger movie like Wes Craven, and when I found out that Samuel Bayer was directing the remake I just had a terrible feeling – and I was right. Same goes for the movies Halloween and Friday the 13th (although this movie wasn’t terrible). No one can do it like the original directors, not even Rob Zombie.

The difference with this Evil Dead remake is that the same director is involved – and most likely in charge. Sam Raimi was the director of the original Evil Dead (1981), and he is listed as the writer of the remake. Fede Alverez is directing the remake, but he has Sam Raimi there to guide him. This is crucial for the remake because the Evil Dead is such an original and has such district style. After watching the short trailer, I was able to formulate only some opinions, but overall I am very excited. It looks very “Evil Dead” and has a lot of the stylistic stuff from the original Raimi films.

Here it is, Let us know what you think.
