Golfing Through 18 Miles of Detroit Wasteland

Charlie LeDuff, a reporter from Fox News, took on an epic challenge of golfing his way from 8 Mile Road all the way to Belle Isle in the middle of run down Detroit. The 46-year-old Pulitzer Prize winner carried four clubs, and golfed a total of 18 miles on a single hole par 3,168 course.

LeDuff made his way inside the old Dutch Girl Doughnut Shop, but was able to avoid knocking his shot in the custard!

In the first annual “I Heart The D Invitational” LeDuff was able to shoot a 2,525, an impressive -643 under par. LeDuff started out at the old Michigan State Fairgrounds and made his way through various obstacles including a Dutch Girl Doughnut Shop, an I-94 Industrial Project, and the famous abandoned Packard Plant which added a few extra strokes to his scorecard. He would make his way over the Detroit River and even golf on the famous MacArthur Bridge. He would finally end his journey as he sank a putt at the 9- hole Belle Isle Golf Club.
