Parasitic Worm Removed From Man’s Eye

An Indian Man living in Mumbai was experiencing some eye irritation over the last couple of weeks and decided to go get it checked out by a doctor. What the doctors found was quite bizarre, the man had a 13cm worm living in his right eye.
Dr. V. Seetharaman, an eye specialist in Mumbai explained that under a microscopic examination, it was discovered that the 75 year old man had a worm “wriggling under his conjuctiva.” This was the first time in his 30 year career that he had seen such a case. The live worm was removed through a small incision during a quick 15-minute operation. The worm squirmed and jumped around while it remained alive for 30 minutes after it was surgically removed.
Doctors speculate that the worm may have entered the patient’s blood stream through a cut, or improperly cooked food. It would eventually travel to the eye and would have caused a toxic reaction if it were to die inside the man’s eye. Neurological damage would have also been possible if the worm traveled to the man’s brain, but he was extremely lucky in this case that it didn’t.
Good thing he decided to get his eye checked out.

Amazing and shocking at the same time. We have built great civilizations and developed technology only imaginable 20 short years ago, but this define the human condition as essentially unchanged in the way nature deals with us “superior” beings.
Oh, GROSS!!! Is this shock blogging?
