Transit of Venus 2012

Transits of Venus across the sun are among the rarest of predictable astronomical phenomena. They occur in a pattern that repeats every 243 years, with pairs of transits eight years apart separated by long gaps of 121.5 years and 105.5 years.

The last transit of Venus occurred over the last few days, and this marks the last Venus transit of the 21st century. The next transit of Venus wont happen until December 10-11 in 2117!

The movement of Venus was streamed online through NASA’s website, drawing in nearly 2,000,000 visitors total during the transit.
