DMT: The Spirit Molecule

“1000 years of experience, in 15 minutes.”
This was a quote taken from one of the most interesting documentaries I have watched to date.
The documentary is called DMT: The Spirit Molecule.
There is also a book associated with the documentary titled DMT: The Spirit Molecule: A Doctor’s Revolutionary Research into the Biology of Near-Death and Mystical Experiences.
An excerpt from Wikipedia on DMT:
“N,N-Dimethyltryptamine (DMT) is a naturally occurring psychedelic compound of the tryptamine family. DMT is ubiquitously found in plants and also in trace amounts in mammals, including humans, where it may putatively function as a trace amine neurotransmitter. It is originally derived from the essential amino acid tryptophan and ultimately produced by the enzyme INMT during normal metabolism. The natural significance of its widespread presence remains undetermined. Structurally, DMT is analogous to the neurotransmitter serotonin (5-HT), the hormone melatonin, and other psychedelic tryptamines, such as 5-MeO-DMT, bufotenin, and psilocin (the active metabolite of psilocybin).
In some cultures DMT is ingested as a psychedelic drug (in either extracted or synthesized forms). When DMT is inhaled or consumed, depending on the dose, its subjective effects can range from short-lived milder psychedelic states to powerful immersive experiences, including a total loss of connection to conventional reality, which may be so extreme that it becomes ineffable. DMT is also the primary psychoactive in ayahuasca, an Amazonian Amerindian brew employed for divinatory and healing purposes. Pharmacologically, ayahuasca combines DMT with an MAOI, an enzyme inhibitor that allows DMT to be orally active.“
What amazed me right off the bat when I first became interested in DMT and psychedelic substances is how they are not as mainstream as they should be. These substances are our connection to the after-life essentially, and as a society, we seem to not have as much interest in them as we should. We seem too concerned about what our favorite celebrities and sports stars are up to instead.
Psychedelic substances aren’t killing anyone.
All your knowledge before this point is all based on bullshit propaganda that governments and special interest groups expose to you on a daily basis without your knowledge.
I used to think the same way.
I used to think that all drugs were bad, and that you shouldn’t be experimenting with them. While there are some very harmful drugs out there such as meth and heroine, psychedelic substances are in a whole different realm.
Taken in a shamanistic way, psychedelics can teach you a lot about yourself, about your perceived reality, and teach you essentially what the BIG PICTURE is all about. Essentially what the ENTIRE UNIVERSE is all about.
Must be real harmful!
The documentary features a great cast of knowledgeable scientists, professors, spiritual guru’s and one of my favorite people on the planet, Joe Rogan.
I did after I read the book, and after seeing the documentary, I can say that my whole life up to this point has been programmed by culture.
If everyone knew the power of DMT and other psychedelic substances, we might actually have a peaceful world to live in.
